International test standard

IMO Res. A.754 (18): Recommendation on fire resistance tests for "A", "B" and "F" class divisions (decks, bulkheads, pipe penetrations and cable transits)

The current European standards determine the field of application of test results through DIAP (direct field of application) or EXAP (extended field of application). The obtained classification is valid in all EU member states. If, however, a classification for a building element has to be demonstrated which is not covered by DIAP or EXAP, the Assessments department can investigate the equivalence of performance according to the Royal Decree of 12/07/2012 (Belgian Official Gazette of 21/09/2012).

The Assessments departments can therefore be contacted in the following situations:

  • Evaluating the equivalence of performance of building elements if the constructional details of the building element differ from those prescribed in the CE marking or the European classification report.

  • Drawing up construction site assessments based on test reports or experience: a declaration of an equivalent safety level (class) for a particular construction site.
