Reaction to fire is important during the growing phase of a fire. It concerns the whole of the properties of the material with regard to the influence on the origin and the development of the fire.
Relevant properties of the material are:
- Ignitability/Inflammability
- The amount of heat released during combustion
- The extend of propagation of flames over a surface
- The amount and the nature of the combustion gasses
