The Fire resistance department performs fire tests in accordance with standardized test methods but also ad hoc fire tests.
The Fire resistance department evaluates the resistance to fire and the contribution of fire protective products, mainly by means of large-scale fire tests under standard conditions.
During the standardized fire tests, the loadbearing and/or separating capacity of construction elements is being evaluated.
In the context of the European standards, this leads to classifications for the loadbearing capacity (R), the integrity (E) and the thermal insulation (I) in case of fire. The resulting classification is then e.g. REI30, EI30, R30 etc....
